Traffic Management Business Intelligence

A Government Transport Management Organisation (GTMO) is primarily engaged in Program and Project management. The primary aims of these programs/projects is to:

  1. Improve Transport Network Efficiency.
  2. Improve Safety for Users.
  3. Reduce Environmental Impact of Transport.

The responsibility of a GTMO is to allocate its capital in a way that maximise these outcomes for the community.

We can help:

  • Support the formulation of Programs and Projects, and Investment Decision Making.
    • Problem Identification. Within a program of works, find the most effective targets for projects based on the greatest need. For example, produce a report which ranks Road segments by Incident count/severity to identify the best targets for a traffic black spot program.
    • Assist Project Study/Analysis. For each project a study/analysis is undertaken to determine the best course of action to address the given problem. Part of the study/analysis is an assessment of historical conditions. BI can produce a variety of traffic and incident statistics about historical conditions.
    • Capture traffic, public transport and incident information before and after project implementation. Enable comparisons of traffic and incident statistics before and after the implementation of projects and programs. These statistics can also be interpreted into environmental outcomes (CO2 production) etc.
    • Assist decision making by providing statistics that can be used to assess project effectiveness. By providing statistics before and after the implementation of Programs and Projects, it is possible to deliver insight into the effectiveness of different types of projects and programs. This assists business decision makers when deciding which programs and projects will produce the best outcomes for the community and environment.
  • Generate and analyse national reporting requirements (e.g. NPI statistics) for road networks to meet reporting commitments.
  • Implement a route review program identifying
    • problem routes now,
    • predict future problems,
    • Identify what is deteriorating quickly
    • What is underutilized
