Dimodelo Solutions has worked with government Legal Aid services to deliver insights into their In-house legal practice, Grants, Income and Expenditure and  Government mandated reporting.

In-house Legal Team Performance

  • Understand how your legal team is performing against target on key measures related to Case Work, Conferencing, Duty Lawyer and Legal Advice. Breakdown that performance by law type, activity, commonwealth/state, matter, clause type, client demographics etc. historically over time. Report on whole of organisation, team and individual etc. performance.
  • Provide daily feedback to individuals through a personalized dashboard, allowing them to understand and adjust their performance on key efficiency measures that affect organisational objectives.
  • Time recording compliance and productivity. Provide daily updates to individuals on their time recording compliance and productivity across all activity types (Case Work, Conferencing, Duty Lawyer and Legal Advice). Report on whole of organisation, team and individual etc. performance. Drill down further into law type, activity, commonwealth/state, matter, clause type, client demographics etc. historically over time and individual cases, extensions and clauses.
  • Internal Income vs targets. Income vs Income earning salaries analysis broken down by activity type etc. over time for an individual, team or whole of organisation.
  • Report on NPA measures – Total Services, Early Intervention, Duty Lawyer, Dispute resolution, Litigation.

Grants

Provide feedback to Grants officers, balancing efficiency measures with quality measures to deliver the right outcome for the community and clients.

Provide daily feedback to Grants officers on their individual performance against bench marks. Provide measures related to:

  • Application processing
  • Extension processing,
  • Accounts processing,
  • Reviews processing,
  • Files processing,
  • Approval rates,
  • Assigned In-house vs External rate

Breakdown that performance by law type, commonwealth/state, matter, clause type, client demographics, assignment, practitioner, firm etc. historically over time.

Income and Expenditure and Provisioning

Build a detailed provisioning model into daily processing to automate provisioning and understand provisioning requirements on a daily/weekly/monthly/annual basis.

Implement a finance module and have full profit and loss reporting system tied back to delivered services and broken down by activity type, law type, internal/external etc.

NPA Performance

Report on NPA measures – Total Services, Early Intervention, Duty Lawyer, Dispute resolution, Litigation.

Case Study

Legal Aid Queensland provides legal help to financially disadvantaged Queenslanders.  They provide litigation and dispute resolution services via an in-house legal practice and network of preferred supplier law firms from around the state, to maximise legal services available to disadvantaged Queenslanders. Staff assess individual legal aid applications by applying a means and merit test and manage the funding arrangements for cases where aid is approved.  They also provide free community legal education, legal information, legal advice and duty lawyer services to all Queenslanders. The services are provided across a range of areas of law including crime, family, child protection, child support, domestic violence, social security, consumer protection and anti-discrimination.

Legal Aid Queensland built a business intelligence solution supporting 7 business areas including legal case work, legal advice, duty lawyer, conferencing, time recording, lawyer income, financial provisioning and payroll. Legal Aid built a data warehouse using Dimodelo Data Warehouse Studio. The data warehouse was built with 28 Dimension and 20 Facts in just 79 days. The effort included gathering requirements, installing and configuring an SQL Server 2012/SharePoint environment, developing the Data Warehouse and ETL using Dimodelo Data Warehouse Studio, creating a cube with many complex measures, data security, several reports, implementing the ETL workflow and deploying to a UAT and Production environments.

Dimodelo Solutions were used to build the business intelligence solution and mentored 2 data analysts throughout the development process providing hands on training and helping them become self-sufficient.
